Lange’s of Scarsdale, the deli that has been a staple at the intersection of Chase Road and Spencer Place since opening in 1972, will serve its last meal on Friday, May 31.

Citing declining revenue and increased costs after expanding to a neighboring site with a pizzeria, owner Tony Domini made the announcement earlier this month that the popular deli would be shutting down.

The business was reportedly impacted by the school district shifting from supplying Lange’s lunches to Chartwells, as well as a new salad bar at the high school, which has kept some students from frequenting the deli at lunchtime. The expansion seven years ago to include a new pizzeria has also reportedly hurt the business' bottom line.

Lange's becomes the latest storefront to leave Scarsdale, following several other retailers in the area that have relocated to other locations.
